FFO

This Ohio 12 point was running does on top of the hill all morning. Finally I decided to give a couple grunts to see if I could pull him away from the doe he was on. It only took a couple minutes for him to show up in my shooting lane inside of 28 yards. Things were against me right from the start. he came in above my stand on the hill, which put him at almost eye level.

Now I did not draw right away  because just off camera at what would be the lower right of the video, I have a doe decoy sitting. My thought was, he would head to the decoy giving me a perfect broadside shot. Well as you can see, he picked us off in the tree right from the start and I never got to draw my bow.

Well if you already saw the video of my Ohio twelve point buck encounter, this is a follow up video. I just could not sit there hoping chance would bring that big buck back around for another try. After he was gone for a few minutes, I decided to break out the grunt call and see if I could coax him back again.

  I hit the grunt tube about 4 maybe 5 times in quick short grunts, kind of like a buck chasing a doe. I am looking to the left in the direction the big buck was headed. My camera man (woman), Tara is my fiance, tells me another buck is coming from the right. 

The video is shortened as to not bore you but this buck took a good 15 minutes to work his way into bow range.  No this buck was not near the caliber of the first but consider this is not managed land and no one has seen any deer like these two all year, that makes this one a shooter too. Again the decoy is off camera just below the buck and this one actually seen the decoy. 

Two more steps and I can shoot. Cross wind from left to right is in my favor. Just wait! Well, you seen what happened. There was just something this deer did not like. Not sure if he knew the big boy was around or what the deal was but he had enough...
